Mondovì Piazza school complex

The project, in short

The City of Mondovi (Italy) has identified the need to provide the district's Piazza for a new school complex and wanted to direct the design towards a sustainable building. A building that is a symbol for the city, a symbol of energy saving and low consumption, a symbol of a new way to build that hopefully can be applied to all future construction projects. In order to achieve the objectives of the building is designed with super insulation techniques, alternative energy sources, and passive heating and cooling.

Even the materials used in construction were chosen for their physical and mechanical characteristics for use of recycled materials, both for considerations of economy in construction and building management.

From an architectural point of view, the project is proposed to seek a maximum integration with the context where it is located by searching the local materials in the surface of the walls.Stone, glass and grass to cover allow the project to have reduced the maximum impact on the landscape. The result, depending on your point of view from the top of the city, is to look like the old wall or transparent element that allows you to see through, or just a green accessible and usable as public space.
