The project, in short

“More with less” The philosophy of the team and the proposal is to focus on those strategies that achieve the maximum architectural and environmental quality while simplifying, reducing or reinvesting costs with the aim to make the habitation and the management of the building more viable, comfortable and profitable.

The new university housing is located on the same block as the School of Architecture of Vallès. The project aims to adapt to the low density of the urban surroundings, prioritizing the direct relationship of the housing with the campus, with a low building, PB+1; adapting, without elevators, with a central community patio, in order to promote students’ relationship with nature. 

The residential program for architecture students makes it possible to imagine intensified coexistence between the users, both individually, thanks to the interior flexibility of the housing units, and collectively, thanks to the potential uses of the 1000m² atrium as a space for social events and an intermediate bioclimatic space that allow the improvement of the energetic efficiency of the building.

The project is designed as an industrialized construction through the use of only one typology of prefabricated housing made of concrete without an internal distribution and with the minimum number of fixed elements, which guarantees habitability, by simplifying finishings in order to invest in energy efficiency. Dry construction and, therefore, unassemblable and recyclable and reusable. The factory manufacturing allows time saving, greater execution control, use of dry construction and minimizing waste materials during the construction process.
